Trev, Sin Santos

Does quarantine ever make you feel so stuck and confined? Don’t worry, you're not alone. Many of us feel that loss of control in our lives, feeling as if we’ve hit rock bottom. We could even reach a point of questioning our self-worth. Sometimes, all it takes is a little reminder of the greatness each of us holds. One of the bests ways to break free is through music. Music gives us the power and confidence to regain control. Just like TREV and Sin Santos's newest release, “Damage“. The song is a wake-up call for many of us—a reminder of the greatness and confidence we possess.

“Damage“ puts in perspective the power we hold. It's a song that reminds us to manifest what we want out of life. This is especially evident in the chorus: “Give me what's mine, I gotta have it.” The artists shared the story behind the track and how it was inspired by TREV’s personal experience: “In this track, I use my pride, achievements, and ego to tell the same girl from my previous release "Fallin Off" that she should get with me because I'm an achiever. And even though I have a lot of things on my plate such as being a rapper, working two jobs, and being a student, I'll make the time for her if she lets me."

The track has a subtle message of self-love. Having low self-esteem can often cause someone to be unsure of themselves and “Damage“ inspires the listener to remember all their accomplishments and achievements, making anyone who listens to this new track feel a strong sense of reenergized power and confidence from within. As mentioned by Australia-based Filipino artist, Sin Santos: “For me, personally, it's a confidence record. A lot of boasting and flexing, definitely nothing too serious. Yeah, we had fun with this one.”

The duo’s collaboration made me want to let loose and release all of that pent-up energy from quarantine. Personally, as a Hip-Hop dancer for over 3 years, I feel that "Damage" is a track worth choreographing. Its catchy and sexy beat instantly just makes you want to stand, dance, and vibe. TREV's sound is influenced by a mix of different artists such as JuiceWrld, Tyga, Drake, Bryson Tiller, Meechy Darko, and Lil Tjay. "Damage" has a style strongly reminiscent of Latin Pop Dance Music, because of its upbeat and danceable rhythm. The distinct Latino flavor brings you back to the good ol’ clubbing and nights out with your friends just in time for summer. As a “social media savant“ (like almost every Gen Z kid!) I think the track has a lot of potential and I could see this song totally trending on social media.

Our very own rising Cebuano artist TREV, is no stranger to Beat This PH. It is his 4th time being featured on the website and has played a major role for the past 2 years as one of its staff writers and talent. Recently, Trevor signed with Warner Music PH. TREV is just beginning to hit his sound waves nationwide. With most of his songs being inspired by his personal experiences, we can easily see how his vulnerability can inspire and remind us fans that we're not alone.

Get ready for "Damage" with its official music video release coming out on the 3rd of May, and stay tuned as TREV will be releasing more of his music such as "Stars" and "Telephone" in the coming months!
