We've been quarantined due to COVID-19, and I know these days, an actual day can feel like an eternity but on the bright side? People have been able to come up with fun things to do to keep themselves entertained. Most of us have probably had this strange revelation during lockdown that has forced us to grow and to realize how important a healthy relationship with yourself and with other people has become. Being in quarantine and missing our friends and loved ones suck, and this newest song from reon, “Got Nothin’ To Do” will put you in the mood to be in your feelings.
Since the day I was assigned to do this piece about their dreamy, electronic, and nostalgic kind of aesthetic, “Wish It Was True” which was way back in September 2020, I have been silently fangirling to the Filipino Bedroom Indie Pop music duo — reon. With each step they took, they grew stronger and more self-confident. Being new to the industry was never a factor that slowed them down in them achieving their dreams. I'm so proud to witness their success through their passion for music.
While there are many ways to define success, reon was crowned the Grand Champion during PhilPop 2020 Songwriting Competition making them one of the youngest contenders with their bilingual melodic pop entry entitled "Suyo" which told a story of lovers in both Tagalog and Bisaya.
As the duo likes to say “Never stop dreaming, know that opportunities are just around the corner and if you’d show them that you’re driven with your passion, success is going to be the one who’d chase you.
