"Let me ease, your mind, your soul, and all your glory believe I only cater to you, you're mine, ain't f*cking with nobody."

- Jason Dhakal

Music is something exquisite, it allows us to express the rawest and most intimate emotions we have that are not so easily expressed. Drawing on these emotions allows us to create the most beautiful yet, sometimes, controversial forms of art. Jason Dhakal, a Filipino-Nepali Soul R&B artist does exactly this with his latest music video for “Body & Soul”, which was released this year on Valentine's day — a day perfect for a song that speaks about a rather unconventional form of intimacy.

“Body & Soul” by Jason Dhakal is something different. Most R&B tracks we hear today are either about just intimacy or sexuality — the two being separate feelings. But this track speaks about them not just together but as something more. The feeling of being connected to someone both intimately and sexually at the same time is rare, yet captured perfectly in this track. It's a feeling of euphoria both emotionally and sexually, these feelings are expressed through lucid lyricism and are sung through an enticing tone bringing the track to life.

Listening to “Body & Soul” on its own, tells a story of a deep connection to one person, yet the music video tells a much more different story. This time, sharing a deep connection with two people. The video opens up with the “Dream2doubt” interlude, introducing the listener to the main track just like how the artist talks about opening himself up to these unconventional feelings. Innuendos, sexual in nature, are one of the highlights in this video, along with the different intimate scenes Jason plays out with both male and female partners. Jason Dhakal is truly a standout in the rather conservative Filipino media we are used to.

“Body & Soul” was produced by none other than Lustbass. A producer who is no stranger to intimate R&B tracks with his frequent collaborations with Filipino-Australian singer Jess Connelly. Sweet and intimate vocals layered on top of a piano along with slow claps is this producer's forte.

At 20 years old, Jason Dkahal has begun to make a mark in the industry with his unique perspective and with the music that he creates. His feature on the recent mixtape from Paradise Rising, 88 Rising's Sister label, has elevated him to new heights, opening him up to new opportunities in the future.
