Being an avid listener to the Hip-Hop space in the US has allowed me to come to know of artists such as J.I.D., J.Cole, and Earth Gang those of which who are under the label Dreamville Records, the group that collectively came up with the compilation album called Revenge of the Dreamers III. Two of the strongest tracks on the project, “Costa Rica” and “Don't Hit Me Right Now” featured hooks that caught my attention with their playful delivery, and this was delivered by no other than Guapdad 4000.

Guapdad 4000 was a stand-out feature on this aforementioned album, but after becoming a fan and digging through his catalog, just how noteworthy this artist is in addition to him being of Filipino descent which I found through his interview with Billboard. His broad catalog as an artist features noteworthy tracks such as “First Things First”, which is a collaboration with G-Eazy, and “Gucci Pajamas”, a collaboration with Charlie Wilson and Chance the Rapper. Seeing these recognizable names alongside his songs is a testament to the impact that this Filipino-American rapper is creating throughout the global music industry.

His latest release “How Many” is a collaboration with Filipino-American producer !llmind was released on the 12th of February under 88Rising with a music video that dropped on the same day alongside a lyric video that followed on the 20th of February, which has Tagalog subtitles used to display the lyrics of the track.

Guapdad 4000's playful tone is still present throughout his latest track, with his lyrics dwelling on relationship dynamics between a rapper and baddie, which is always rather turbulent. The production on the track features a sample from the famous 2010 club song “Better Off Alone” by Alice DJ, with him commenting on the production saying ‘Something like this comes in handy when you need to tell the full spectrum of your story like I did in this music’.

“How Many” is the first single to come off Guapdad 4000 and !llmind's collaborative album 1176 which is set for release on the 19th of March under Paradise Rising, the sister label of 88Rising. It is packed with features to look out for including one from Filipino-American rapper P-Lo and R&B singer Tish Hyman, so make sure to stay updated by following Guapdad 4000's socials.
