"No Sides", a brand new song by Manila-based artist Jensen Gomez is dropping soon and audiences have lots to look forward to with Gomez's interesting blend of R&B and Alternative Pop sounds featured in the volumes to come in anticipation of his album Phases.

According to the artist, "it's about trying to convince something or someone you love so much to give you another shot at it," adding that "the song is about loving something or someone hesitant in taking you back, given all the past bruises and scars you both have had together. But manning up to challenge and facing everything head-on, fighting for it. For me personally, it’s making music". When expanding on the meaning behind the song, he adds that the song feels as though you're outside in a tropical setting, which is imagery that feels soothing to us all in a time where the pandemic has confined us primarily at home. I can see how this translates to listeners, I could feel the emotion in his melodies and lyrics in combination with his heartfelt chord choice.

Production-wise, Gomez described its process as very "pandemic-y". He was able to get his friends to play the instrumental parts which were then sent to him as he worked on the track from his home studio. The final mix was done by himself and Magic Montano, who also mastered the track.

"All the things that you told me,

All the love we shared,

All the f*ckin' that we did,

All the times we cared."

- Lyrics from "No Sides" by Jensen Gomez

Originally, the song began as part of a plan to create a 5-part EP but is now going to be part of a 16-track album called Phases, an idea that by one of his good friends—to tell the story in phases. Gomez also shared the difficulties of creating "No Sides", being in a strange place mentally directly affected his ability to write songs. The track has been in production for over a year, but Gomez saw this as a blessing in disguise, being able to sit on the song (alongside the others intending to be part of the record) and making the right decisions for it.

Being in the music industry for 13 years and taking part in groups like Memphiis and Jensen and the Flips, Gomez has built an impressive career and learned a lot throughout his journey. He mentions how, now at the age of 30, he's come to terms with his dyslexia and inattentive ADHD and has embraced the hardships and difficulties he's had to face along the way. His experience can be noticed in his admirable achievements, getting on film soundtracks and shows like the Philippines Next Top Model, winning a Wish award, and landing popular Spotify playlists like Men of OPM, amongst others. Alongside his music career, Gomez also has a podcast called "The B-Side of Things", which is released every other week.
