Reign Cruz

"Consistency, Reflection and Passion will take you wherever you want to go in any career"

- Reign Cruz

"Children of the Moon", Reign Cruz's newest tune and first single of 2021 is out now, and there's a lot to look forward to with this Canadian R&B artist. Raised just outside of Vancouver where he is currently based, Reign Cruz has big plans for releasing content all of 2021, including a music video that dropped for his vibe-y song "Seasons" ft. Mimoza. Playing instruments since he was 9 and then becoming a self-taught Producer, Reign explains how he always knew he was going to be a musician. He instilled a discipline in himself to make it in the industry by making it his plan A without any fallbacks.

When asked what Reign considers his musical style and genre to be, he explains how he tries to not be defined by a specific sound. "I truly believe music is about the interpretation of moods and experiences by artists, and for the people," he states, adding that "we experience so many different moods so allowing yourself as an artist to express all sides of you is a key". Reign wants his audiences to "grow" with him. As he continues on his musical journey, he goes by his personal motto to make "self-help" music.

Reign worked on "Children of the Moon" with his good friend and now producer Remi B., saying that they sat on the song for 3-4 months and that it wasn't until late March of 2021 that they truly began developing it. "He just knows how to bring out certain sounds, songs, and energies from people for the greater good of artistic growth and amazing music". The two began by playing around with a few chords on the acoustic guitar and the song then quickly began to take a life of its own. The song was mastered by Chris Antonio, who Reign says helped to truly bring the "song's colors to life". The inspiration of the song came from his family interpreted into the idea of wolves and "how they work in packs and take care of one another". Reign expands on this, saying how wolves "howl at the moon like prayer and they are connected to its power. I believe the same light that glows through the night sky, is the same light that we are made up of".

His last four releases have been featured on highly streamed playlists like New Music Friday Philippines and Fresh Finds Philippines. He thanks his mentor Marvin Soriano for helping him along the way and being such an inspiration for him. Artists that also inspire Reign include Jhene Aiko and Russ among others.

"Consistency, Reflection, and Passion will take you wherever you want to go in any career," says Reign when asked about advice to fellow aspiring musicians. Additionally, he adds to "always play the long game and run the marathon, not the sprint. A career lasts a lifetime, make every moment count. Plant your seeds, grow your roots, and water the flowers that you bloom. A strong foundation is a key to longevity". It's undeniable that Reign Cruz has a clear vision and wise outlook on not only himself and his journey with music, but the meaning of hard work and the importance of passion in general and this is evident in the quality of music he releases.

"This song is simply a reminder to myself and for y’all, that we are all here on this journey. We’re all from that same place."

- Reign Cruz on the message behind his song, "Children of the Moon".

"Children of the Moon" has a warm and cozy energy that cannot be faked. I believe this is directly connected to Reign's ability to lay out his feelings unapologetically in front of his audiences and translate the wisdom he's found in himself to others. His other songs like "KEEP FIGHTING" also have the same candid emotional rawness, but additionally showcases a catchy and replay-worthy quality that "Children of the Moon" also has. Reign displays his talent to not only portray his feelings and morals so seamlessly but also his ability to write catchy hooks and melodies that pull you in.
