Hip-Hop is one of the most diverse forms of art in human history. It's a medium that has influenced so many, with endless individuals working to have their legacy within it. It tackles a wide range of subjects and emotions, life in the streets, failure and success, and even politics. But most importantly, it always touches on the hustle and grind that a person puts into perfecting their craft. "Swish" by Trapp featuring Mistah Lefty is a collaboration that embodies the hustle of the rap game — a collaboration between an O.G. emcee, with years of experience backing him up, and a young prodigy on the come up, steadily carving a name in music.

As a rapper and an avid listener of Hip-Hop myself, the track "Swish" is what one would classify as a track with roots in old-school rap. It's a track filled with pure bars, punch lines, and no melodic rapping all layered with wordplay about the hustle and work these two emcees put into their craft. The production was done by Ronnie, a young producer who has been establishing himself in the past year. The music video for this track was directed and edited by none other than Dice of Mobbstarr.

Trapp, in an interview with Beat This PH, mentioned he has already been in the scene for a minute. At the young age of 13, he auditioned to be a part of 6000 Goonz by rapping in front of Dice, and eventually joining him along with K9 and Hi-C. His experience with Dice & K9 allowed him to gain experience from one of the original rap groups from Cebu and to make it to a national level in Manila.

Mistah Lefty on the other hand is only just getting started with his journey as an artist. Seeing him perform live is an experience to behold, with his bullet-speed delivery and clever wordplay, no emcee has had this much potential at just 21 years old. Listeners of Mistah Lefty have even gone as far as to compare him to hallmarks of Rap such as Kendrick Lamar and Eminem.

Cebu is a pool filled with untapped potential in every music genre, especially Hip-Hop. There are artists who have placed blood, sweat, tears, and precious time perfecting their craft. These are artists like Trapp and Mistah Lefty. Make sure to check out the next releases these two have lined up for us.
