"Our life is like water, just flow with the ups and downs and stay focused on what you want. Energy doesn’t die, it transfers.. don’t give up. Something will click eventually and you’ll soon realize what you’ve been needing has been with you all along."

- Ru AREYOU

The recent developments in the music scene as a whole have seen the Filipino brand elevate to a whole different level, we've had grammy-nominated artists such as Guapdad 4000 and H.E.R. bringing the Filipino name to a whole different level in the world. Some of you may not have known, but there are a number of Filipinos working on great things behind the scenes such as August Rigo, who we previously featured who is Filipino writing for big-name artists like Chris Brown and Justin Bieber. Another artist whom you may have not known who is also Filipino is Ru AREYOU who has been in the music space for over a decade, who has been working alongside names like Justin Bieber and Chris Brown, collaborating with these artists on a number of their projects.

Rudy Yamat Reynon II whose artist name is Ru AREYOU, is a Filipino creative residing in Los Angeles, the city where dreams turn to reality. Residing in the city of angels has allowed this artist to cross paths with names we see on mainstream media, and being the space around the people we see as superstars. He was featured on the track that kick-started Chris Browns Hip-Hop career "Real Hip Hop Sh!t #1", and he has danced alongside the Jabawockeys as well as being the martial arts trickers on Justin Bieber's "Purpose World Tour”.

Ru AREYOU is someone whom you call creative, dwelling in martial arts, dancing, and creating music, the track on a highlight from this artist is called "Melt" which was part of his "Flow St8" EP released in 2020. A music video for this track featuring J.Blaze was recently released on the 3rd of April, the track is what one would call a 'Feel Good' track with lyrics like "If you got the drip b*tch I got the melt". The term 'Drip' is a word used to describe someone who looks fancy or classy with the outfit they have on, but Ru AREYOU on this track claims to be a level above that thus explaining the lyrics on that hook.

The production on this track shows Ru AREYOU's roots in the Bay Area, featuring that distinct bounce that you hear in tracks coming from the west coast of the United States. It's that type of production that another famous Filipino artist has thrived on, P-Lo who comes from the same side in California as Ru AREYOU does. More than that he has also been inspired by a plethora of artists, the likes of Pharell Williams, Tyler the Creator, and Jaden Smith.

Despite being in the industry for over a decade already, the past years have shown that Ru AREYOU can also take the center stage and shine. He has been working in the background for many great artists, but with him now taking the steering wheel with his own music the possibilities are endless for this Filipino creative. So make sure to stay tuned as to what this talented individual may be bringing up his sleeve next by following him on his different social media accounts.
