"Do everything with positivity, humility, patience, and hard work for with positivity comes great mindset, with humility comes respect, with patience comes greater things, & with hard work comes achievements."

- DJ Young

There are a lot of people I have met in my journey as a recording artist. Some of them are young like me and have the potential and talent to become hallmarks in the Philippine music industry. One of them is the 20-year-old artist and producer DJ Young whom I met through an event we did for the 2nd anniversary of Beat This PH. His newest track, "Wouldn't Mind" is a collaboration between the young DJ and Filipino producer LouisVint together with Iddi on the vocals. I recall almost meeting LouisVint through an interview with EdgeTV, but that's, of course, a story for another time.

"Wouldn't Mind" features a cheerful melody that contrasts a rather daunting viewpoint on love established in the story behind the song. The record itself talks about a person afraid to commit after being hurt but is nonetheless willing to give it their all — to feel what it's like to be in love again, even just for one night.

The cheerful production of the track provides a rather positive undertone to this record despite the seemingly pessimistic themes. Both DJ Young and LoiusVint collaborated on the production of "Wouldn't Mind", something we don't often see in the Philippines, but this allowed a steady exchange of feedback and ideas between the two producers.

DJ Young's journey through the music scene is a story in itself. He's been in the music space for nearly 10 years despite being only 20 years old. His journey started at the age of 11 when he learned how to play the guitar and eventually started playing in various large festivals all over the Philippines. Amongst his achievements is having one of his tracks signed to one of the biggest EDM labels in the world. Furthermore, he is officially part of Warner Music PH's Visayas-Mindanao recording artist lineup.

He's spoken about many exciting collaborations in the future with other artists from around the Philippines. It's safe to say that with the accolades DJ Young has earned in the last 10 years, his potential for continuous growth is limitless. This young talent is surely one to keep our eyes on for the years to come.
